Walnes Seeds
Installation & calibration of a new weighbridge for a well-established Suffolk company
Walnes Seeds are independent agricultural seed specialists and merchants operating from their own production facility in Earl Soham and have been around for over 60 years.
In 2010 after almost 18 years of calling on Walnes Seeds, the decision was finally made to award STC the maintenance contract covering the Avery 5150 in-ground weighbridge which had been installed some 25 years ago at their Framlingham premises.
The following year, Andrew Cooper and his fellow directors decided to relocate their business as a building development project was about to take place at their existing site. We were asked if we would like to provide a quotation for the supply of a new weighbridge as they were going to build new premises at Earl Soham.
We talked at length about the possibility of using the existing indicator as it had only been changed in 2006 and there was still some life left in it. Therefore an order was placed where we would supply a new UK-manufactured weighbridge deck, load cells and junction box and we would interface these with the customer’s existing indicator and printer. This was successfully carried out in 2013 when the new site was ready for occupation.
Andrew was delighted with the installation and particularly pleased with the attitude of the engineers during the installation process.
